What can we say, the start to the NFL season has been a whirlwind of parody!  Teams we originally thought would dominate heading into Week 1 showed us otherwise, and those same teams in Week 2 then disappointed us in reverse!  Some teams have stepped up strong with 2-0 starts including the Ravens, Giants, Patriots, Broncos, Eagles,  Steelers, and Vikings.  Other teams started off with strong showings in Week 1, such as the Buccaneers, Raiders, and Bengals, only to fall flat on their faces in Week 2.  Even the lowly Rams, who have yet to find the end-zone, were somehow able to kick 3 field goals and beat the Seahawks!  Finally, we experienced some strong quarterback play in Week 2 by people not named Andrew Luck, Drew Brees or Aaron Rodgers, but by the likes of Sam Bradford, Ryan Fitzpatrick, and Carson Wentz, with all 3 of these QB’s doing enough to capture W’s for their respective teams last week.

The 3 Guys here were not immune once again to these surprise outcomes, and for the 2nd consecutive week, came up short with our picks.  But unlike other sites, we won’t hide from our picks. We will always show you our standings, and keep our prior picks up so you can scorn at us like a good Monday Morning Quarterback should do! Below are our overall Pick’em standings from week 2, with our Lock of the Week in parenthesis:

Jeremy:  4-12 (1-0):
Zac:  5-11 (0-1):
Jose: 6-10 (1-0):

Week 3 Preview:

So as the saying goes, “The past is behind us”, and we here at 3GuysTalkStuff firmly believe that.  We will figuratively brush ourselves off and prepare for a strong Week 3 showing with our picks!  Below is the Week 3 Schedule with our picks directly to the right. As we have done in past weeks, below our picks, each one of us will provide you with a Lock of the Week, an Upset of the Week, or both!  In Jose’s case, he will provide his “JoseOle Make’s Money” pick (copyright on that name pending).

Locks of the Week:

Jeremy: My Lock of the Week is going to be the Arizona Cardinals blowing past the lowly Buffalo Bills this week. Everyone was so high on Tyrod Taylor before the season started, but that has quickly been forgotten. The Cards started off a little slow, but woke up last week with a commanding win over the trendy Tampa Bay Bucs. So many weapons on offense and an above average defense. They were my Super Bowl pick before the season started and sticking to it.

I may have had a couple bad weeks overall with picks, but my locks are 3-1 so far!!

JoseOle’s Makes Mo’nae: So, if you decided to pick with me and actually put $$$ down you were left with a few extra bucks! My goal is to roll over each bet starting last week and get rich quick!

My pick this week goes to the Raiders at Tennessee. Although the Titans are a decent team, they are not the same as the high ceiling talent the Raiders are going to put on the field. I like that combination of the WR’s of both Cooper and Crabtree. My concern is what we have witnessed before in that the Raiders can’t hold a team to low yards… Oh well, if they are going to score, I believe the Raiders can out score them. Let’s get some Mo’nae!

Zac: My Lock of the Week will be the Saints covering against the Falcons.  New Orleans lost their home opener in stunning fashion to the Oakland Raiders before failing to capitalize on back to back to back turnovers by the NY Giants last week.  They dropped another tough one in the final seconds, albeit this time it was on the road.  Starting 0-2 and squaring off against a very good divisional opponent in the Falcons this week, I see Sean Payton and Drew Brees pulling out all the stops to come away with a win.  As good as the Falcons have been in the last 10 years, going all the way back to 2006, the Saints have won 15 of the last 20 match-ups, including both games last season. It may be a slow start on Monday Night but stay buckled in for this wild one!
